Running workshops where 8 people with different views align on a single process model. This is where the real value is created — not in the diagram itself, but in the conversation that produces it.
Stakeholder management
Navigating politics, managing expectations, building trust. Process changes affect people — and people resist change. You need to bring them along.
Change management
A beautiful to-be process is worthless if nobody adopts it. Consultants must plan the transition: communication, training, quick wins, resistance handling.
Data literacy
Process mining, KPI definition, business case calculation. You need to quantify the problem and the improvement — gut feeling does not convince CFOs.
Building credibility
- -Portfolio — sanitized case studies showing process improvements with measurable results. This is your best sales tool.
- -Certifications — OCEB2 for BPMN, possibly Lean Six Sigma for continuous improvement methodology.
- -Industry knowledge — specializing in 1-2 industries (banking, healthcare, manufacturing) makes you more valuable than being a generalist.
- -Tool proficiency — know 2-3 BPM tools well. Clients often have a tool already; you need to work in their environment.
